Tetsuo Shima is both the deuteragonist and primary antagonist of the epic Japanese cyberpunk franchise, AKIRA, thematically, representing the destructive potential of power in the wrong hands. Tetsuo is a young man of below-average height with a slight build and psychic powers. After losing his right arm at the end of the second volume, he creates a bionic arm to replace it for much of the story, but eventually recovers later his lost human limb.
