Description: The 1986 World Series served as MLB's (Major League Baseball) championship series. The 83rd World Series was a best-of-seven playoff between the American League (AL) champion Boston Red Sox and the National League (NL) champion New York Mets. The Mets won the World Series in four games to win it in three, becoming the first team to do so since the 1969 season. The game in which the Mets overcame a two-run deficit in the bottom of the 10th inning—despite having two outs and no one on base—is the one that will be remembered most from the series. The Red Sox, who led the series 3-2, were twice one out from winning the championship but were unable to finish the inning as the Mets won off an error by Boston first baseman Bill Buckner.
