70th Infantry WWII

Operation Fortitude was the code name for a World War II military deception employed by the Allied nations as part of an overall deception strategy (code named Bodyguard) during the build-up to the 1944 Normandy landings. Fortitude was divided into two sub-plans, North and South, with the aim of misleading the German high command as to the location of the invasion.

Alan Armstrong was an expert pilot, a wealthy playboy, and the confidant of his fiancé Eve's father, Admiral Corby. The Admiral suspected that spies had infiltrated America and needed help, so Armstrong put on a costume and became the Spy Smasher. When WWII ended, he changed his name to Crime Smasher and shifted his focus towards fighting crime. Eve sometimes helps him since she knows his secret identity.

Late 1945 Allied propaganda leaflet dropped over China. Such leaflets informed Chinese citizens what an American pilot looked like, his uniform and so on. It also asked the Chinese to assist any downed flyer they might find in need of help.

WWII leaflet dropped on Japanese occupied Philippines warning the population that the Allied invasion will begin soon. The reverse of the leaflet had instructions for the Filipinos to stay away from all Japanese held positions and to move as far inland as possible. The design is available in white or deep blue. They were known as VIII Bomber Command from 19 January 1942 – 22 February 1944, as the 8th Air Force from then on.

WWII USAAF 318th Bomb Squadron (Heavy), 88th Bomb Group, The patch shows a boxer with bat wings taking care of a missile.

The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Republic of China Air Force in 1941–1942, nicknamed the Flying Tigers, was composed of pilots from the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC), recruited under President Franklin Roosevelt's authority before Pearl Harbor and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. Their Curtis P-40B Warhawk aircraft, marked with Chinese colors, flew under American control. Their mission was to bomb Japan and defend the Republic of China, but many delays meant the AVG flew in combat after the US and Japan declared war.

On 26 February 1944 Congress passed a bill that granted Army and Navy Nurses actual military rank, approved for the duration of the war plus 6 months. With over 8 million soldiers and airmen, the needs were more than double those of World War I. Hundreds of new military hospitals were constructed for the expected flow of casualties. Fearing a massive wave of combat casualties once Japan was invaded in late 1945,

USS Arizona was a Pennsylvania-class battleship built for the United States Navy in the mid-1910s. Named in honor of the 48th state's recent admission into the union, the ship was the second and last of the Pennsylvania class of "super-dreadnought" battleships. Arizona was hit by Japanese torpedo bombers during the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. After one of their bombs detonated in a magazine, she exploded violently and sank, with the loss of 1,177 officers and crewmen.
