Description: Crown Records was a innovation of the California-based Bihari family (brothers Lester, Joe, Saul, Jules) who owned Modern, Flair and RPM , all great solid independent labels, as well as the budget label Custom, Kent, United Superior, and Riviera. It started in December, 1953 and continued until 1972, earning itself the reputation of the king of the junk record labels. Aside from endlessly reissuing and repackaging the legitimate Modern and RPM hits including the B.B. King material, what Crown had to offer was musical junk food on plastic plates .
Description: Duke Records was an American record label, started in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1952 by David James Mattis (WDIA program director and DJ) and Bill Fitzgerald, owners of Tri-State Recording Company. Their first release was Roscoe Gordon singing "Hey Fat Girl", issued on Duke R-1, later amended to R-101. After forming a partnership with Mattis in the summer of 1952, Don Robey (founder of Houston's Peacock Records) took control of Duke. Both labels then headquartered at his Bronze Peacock club at 2809 Erastus Street in Houston, focusing on R&B and gospel music. Robey started a subsidiary, Back Beat Records, in 1957 and this later specialised in soul music, along with Sure Shot Records, whilst Peacock specialised in gospel recordings.

Description: You have to commission an artist while his rate is still good. This is a quote by Sunny De La Vega in In The Heights, the Broadway Production. Quote is not included in the movie/film. Design is for dark-colored shirts due to its white print and it is also faded/weathered/distressed. Description: Founded in 1980, quintessential New York City label, 99 Records (pronounced “nine-nine,” not “ninety-nine”), was among the most influential independent labels of its time, with an influence still reverberates today. The label’s sound was every bit as distinct and as it was diverse, touching on post-punk, disco, dub reggae and even avant-classical, highlighted by exhilarating experiments in minimalist art-funk, and polyrhythmic grooves. Despite being a shoestring operation run out of a record store, 99 sold an unbelievable number of records with minimal distribution, and was at one point the most successful indie label in New York City.
