Early 2019 when I was researching vineyards in the South East of England, I came across an organic wine-maker in East Sussex. As you may know, I have made it my mission the last few years to paint the national trusts too... So you can imagine my delight to find that my two favourite topics for landscapes at this time could be found within one painting. I had thought to capture the vineyard at dawn, but when I started doing my sketches, I felt only a magnificent sunset would truly do this topic justice and give the advantage of working with extraordinary reflections and dramatic skies. Alnwick Castle in situated in the County of Northumberland in the North East of England and is pictured here reflected in the River Aln on a bright August morning with a small herd of sheep grazing on the pasture. The castle dates from 1096 and is more recently featured in the Harry Potter films.

Warkworth Castle is a ruined medieval building, occupying a loop in the River Coquet in Northumberland. The castle was built in the mid 12th century in a charter between the years 1157 and 1164. This image shows the Grey Mares Tail Tower leading to the castle keep, from the river bank at Amble on a bright September morning.

Uffington white horse. Aerial photograph of a hill carving of a white horse. The Uffington carving is the oldest chalk-cut hillfigure in Britain. The horse has been dated by means of optical stimulated luminescence dating (OSL) which shows how long soil has been hidden from sunlight. OSL testing of the soil layers beneath the chalk infilling indicates that it has been buried since between 1400BC and 600BC, and most likely between 1200BC and 800BC. Lulworth Castle Reprised Number of views as of 4th December 2017 = 1100. A third (and final?) shot of Lulworth Castle (Dorset, England), this time taken from the south-west corner of the grounds and showing three of the castle's four turrets. Rebuilding of the castle (following a disastrous fire in 1929) was part funded by English Heritage. More information on the history of the castle can be found here. Date: 6th May 2013.

Lulworth Castle Number of views as of 8th April 2018 = 700. Lulworth Castle (East Lulworth, Dorset, England) was built in the early 17th century as a hunting lodge by Thomas Howard, 3rd Viscount Howard of Bindon. In 1641 it was purchased by Humphrey Weld as part of the Lulworth Estate for the princely sum (in those days) of £30,000, and the Estate has remained in the hands of the Weld family to this day. A serious fire in 1929 raged for 3 days and completely destroyed the interior of the Castle along with the roof, and the Castle lay in ruin for over 60 years. In the 1990s, however, thanks to funding from English Heritage, the stonework was restored, the Castle re-roofed, and the building is now open to the public on most days except for...

Inspired by ancestry DNA results, this England - It's in my DNA design shows an English rose, the national flower of England, with a strand of DNA as the stem. Perfect for those that take pride in their English roots and heritage.

It was Good Friday 30th March 2018 and as I was standing next to St Alkumunds church I had rather long but very nice conversations with Christians attending Easter service. The morning was not warm and I was kept offered a cup of coffee which was very kind and very much appreciated. Those timber framed buildings are now integral part of Shrewsbury centre and it is difficult to comprehend that back in 1960s the town authorities wanted to demolish them. Thanks to residents of Shrewsbury and Shrewsbury Civic Society those gorgeous buildings are still with us.

Hardwick Hall, in Derbyshire, England, is an architecturally significant Elizabethan country house in England. Built between 1590 and 1597 for the formidable Bess of Hardwick. It was designed by the architect Robert Smythson, an exponent of the Renaissance style of architecture. Hardwick Hall is one of the earliest examples of the English interpretation of this style, which came into fashion having slowly spread from Florence. Its arrival in Britain fortuitously coincided with the period when it was no longer necessary or legal to fortify a domestic dwelling. Tonbridge is a very special place for me as it is my home town. As children, my sisters and I would run up and down the pathway to the top of the lookout mound where there is a wishing well. My father would tell me that the dip was a sleeping dragon and we would tip toe around it so not to wake it. We had many idyllic picnics whilst rowing a boat on the River Medway with our grandparents. I chose this perspective because it encompasses so many things about Tonbridge - the 'one ton bridge', the river, the castle and the town clock.
