A war-weary Tommy sits thoughtfully, head bowed, rifle in hand, as he reflects upon the sheer horror of World War One during the first minute after peace was declared in 1918. This imposing metal sculpture, entitled 1101, owing to the fact the armistice went into effect at 11am on November 11, 1918, stands 9ft 5ins tall and weighs 1.2 tonnes. Built out of special corteen steel, it has been installed on Seaham seafront in Country Durham to mark the centenary of the start of the Great War. Created by local artist Ray Lonsdale, the sculpture is also intended to represent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which many of the returning soldiers endured.

The Bonscale Towers are two cairns located on the ascent upto Bonscale Pike from the Martindale area of the Lake District. The ascent in this rea gives fantastic views onto Ullswater, before the track takes you away from the Ullswater towards Arthurs Pike, High Street, Loadpot Hill, before descending back to Martindale. The Cow Green Reservoir, located in County Durham feeds water via its weirs to the River Tees. As the water is released into the weir, it tulles over the rocks, to the Cauldron Snout Waterfall, before plunging into Maize Beck and on towards the Tees.

Linton Falls, located in the Yorkshire Dales on the River Wharfe are a picturesque and dramatic sight as the Wharfe plunges over a weir and through steep rocky drops.

A small waterfall located on Bowlees Beck, close to the Bowlees Visitor Centre in Teesdale. Bowlees Beck is a lower stream that flows from Summerhill Force and Gibsons Cave, the Tees River close to the more famous High and Low Force waterfalls.

Tommy 1101 is a sculpture that sits on permanent display next to the cenotaph on the coast at Seaham Harbour. Created and named to commemorate the end of hostilities and to remember of all of the war dead and injured from World war One, Tommy sits with head bowed. The stone poppy and the embroidered poppies are added in the run up to the anniversary of Armistace Day.

The Blast Beach as it is locally known, is located just south of Seaham Harbour, in the area of Noses Point on the County Durham coastline of North East England. The beach was once a dumping ground for the old waste from the mines and chemical works - with the Chemical Beach, being close by. The sea stack, is unusual in that it has never been named.

A poppy field located in the village of Great Lumley, close to the city of Durham. The poppies stretch the entire length of the field, giving a beautiful red carpet of colour, combined with beautiful blue skies and fluffy clouds the provide a beautiful and thought provoking summer image.
