This work of iconic Florence view of Santa Maria del Fiore took me over 40 hours of work. Hope it was worth it)

In the Flos Duellatorum, Fiore dei Liberi wrote: "No other creature is able to look so clearly as me, the lynx / and by this I ever reckon by compass and measure. I am the tiger, I am very quick to run and turn / That the arrow in the sky cannot approach me. None bears a more ardent heart than me, a lion / And I challenge anyone to battle. I am the elephant and I have a castle for a burden / And never do I kneel down nor do I lose my true place." And now you too can bear his four animals and carry their virtues wherever you go.

A little hope in the dark

Giglio in fiore means Blooming Lily. I would describe the picture as semi-abstract, because although it somehow refers to the lilac in its shape, it also slips out of reality.

The three magnificent buildings in the Piazza del Duomo in Florence, Italy. On the left, the Battistero di San Giovanni (Baptistery of St. John) - begun in 1296 and completed in 1436. On the right, the Campanile di Giotto (Giotto’s Bell Tower) - begun in 1334 and completed in 1359. In the centre, the cathedral church, the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) - begun in 1059 and completed in 1128. The exterior walls of all three buildings are faced in alternate vertical and horizontal bands of polychrome marble from Carrara (white), Prato (green), Siena (red), Lavenza and a few other places.

The top of the dome of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral church (Duomo) of Florence, Italy, begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches, and until the modern era, the dome was one of the largest in the world, being surpassed in width only by that of the Pantheon in Rome. It remains the largest brick dome every constructed.

Florence's Duomo is the city's most iconic landmark. Capped by Filippo Brunelleschi's red-tiled cupola, it's a staggering construction whose breathtaking pink, white and green marble facade and graceful campanile (bell tower) dominate the medieval cityscape. Sienese architect Arnolfo di Cambio began work on it in 1296, but construction took almost 150 years and it wasn't consecrated until 1436. I took this photo on a visit there and gave it a painterly treatment in CC and Topaz.
