The FM Towns (エフエムタウンズ Efu Emu Taunzu) system is a Japanese PC variant, built by Fujitsu from February 1989 to the summer of 1997. It started as a proprietary PC variant intended for multimedia applications and PC games, but later became more compatible with regular PCs. In 1993, the FM Towns Marty was released, a gaming console compatible with existing FM Towns games. The "FM" part of the name means "Fujitsu Micro" like their earlier products, while the "Towns" part is derived from the code name the system was assigned while in development, "Townes". This refers to Charles Townes, one of the winners of the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physics, following a custom of Fujitsu at the time to code name PC products after Nobel Prize winners. The e in "Townes" was dropped when the system went into production to make it clearer that the term was to be pronounced like the word "towns" rather than the potential "tow-nes".

WHY I DO THIS: I've been collecting vintage stuff for a few decades. It's an obsession. If you've been bit by the bug, you know what I mean. Representing the good ol' days at work and in public doesn't always mean putting on a poodle skirt and dolling yourself up like a pin up girl. It doesn't always mean slickin' up your pompadour and going rockabilly to the hot rod show. Sometimes it's okay to just be subtle and show your appreciation for the lifestyle, and for the designers and companies that made it happen. From the hard to find, to common classic, we love our vintage treasures. Mid Century Modern. Atomic, Space Age, Art Deco, Chic, Kitschy, so many names and styles. They just don't make them like they used to.

This Hawkins Middle AV Club t-shirt includes a realistic vintage treatment to give it a genuine retro 80s appearance.

A dazzling Fermium design. Fermium is a synthetic element with symbol Fm and atomic number 100. It is a member of the actinide series. It is the heaviest element that can be formed by neutron bombardment of lighter elements, and hence the last element that can be prepared in macroscopic quantities, although pure fermium metal has not yet been prepared.
