He held up one arm, spreading out his bare, fat hand. In the palm I saw the sign of black magic. A burning torch held down-end in his other hand emitted black, stifling smoke. He sat on a large, black cube, gripping it with the claws of his beast-like, shaggy legs.

I have been using this image to promote my Death Metal Art for years now. The first thing I ever in Pen and Ink. The religious connotation goes overlooked much of the time.

Using a symbol that give you strength does not mean that you are showing allegiance to a faith, cause or philosophy. In art using iconography can be very deceptive without proper knowledge of the artist. If a viewer chooses to only see the surface as it relates to an image than the viewer, at their discretion, can be said to be cheating themselves. An adversary once named can be powerful but also can be controlled. Social presumptions due to previously held connotations can give rise to a revolution towards an idea if an artist is will to risk rejection and degradation until somehow this knew concept takes hold of the popular imagination. That is if the best case scenario occurs.
