Description: Flying Fish Records was a record label founded in Chicago in 1974 that specialized in folk, blues, and country music. In the 1990s the label was sold to Rounder Records. Bruce Kaplan, the label's founder, was a native of Chicago and the son of a president of Zenith Electronics. He studied anthropology at the University of Chicago and became president of the school's folklore society. He began Flying Fish in 1974 to concentrate on traditional and contemporary folk music, though the catalog grew to include blues, bluegrass, country, jazz, reggae, dancefloor and rock.
Description: Flying Fish by Mary Symonds.Mary Ramsden, née Symonds (1772 – 1854), was an English watercolour painter. In 1801, she travelled with her sister, Elizabeth Gwillim, to Madras, India (now Chennai). Where she produced a series of watercolours of Indian fish, as well as a series of local landscapes.
Description: This is my watercolor and ink painting of flying fish jumping and gliding over the sea. I was inspired to do this painting after seeing these kinds of fish from a boat. Barbados is known as the land of the flying fish and is one of their national symbols. Two flying fish glide above a vast expanse of ocean, their wings extended as they soar near the surface. The sky is partially cloudy, creating a serene and dynamic seascape.
