This image depicts bright blue newly formed stars that are blowing a cavity in the center of a fascinating star-forming region known as N90.

NGC 1792 is a spiral galaxy located in the southern Columba constellation. It was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on October 4, 1826. This galaxy is located at a distance of about 36.4 million light-years and is receding from the Milky Way with a heliocentric radial velocity of 1,208 km/s.

Emission nebula Sh2-86 and star open cluster NGC 6823 in the constellation Vulpecula. This hydrogen region is emission nebula surrounding star open cluster NGC 6823. Picture taken with refractror telescope (800mm focal length), astronomy scientific camera, RGB and H-alpha narrowband filters. Total exposure time: 10,5 hours.

Starbirth region NGC 602, Hubble Space Telescope image. A cluster of bright, newly formed stars (blue) are blowing a cavity in the centre of a nebula (gas and dust), which is glowing under the impact of the stellar radiation. This starbirth region is 196,000 light years from Earth, in the Small Magellanic Cloud, in the constellation Tucana. This image was obtained with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys instrument. The results were published in January 2007.

Another picture especially (but not only) for connoisseurs: reflection nebula NGC 1333 in the constellation Perseus, surrounded by dark dust. It is approximately 750-1000 (depends on source) light years away from Earth. This nebula is one of the closest to Earth areas of the formation of new stars, rich in young stars. In the initial stage of life young stars are not visible because they are obscured by dust. Picture taken with newton telescope (750mm focal length) & astronomy monochrome camera.

NGC 4565 (also known as the Needle Galaxy) is my favourite an edge-on spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Coma Berenices. I have taken this picture with reflector telescope 750mm focal length and professional monochromatic astro camera. Total exposure time: 27 x 600 sec.

Rosette nebula (NGC 2237), optical image. This nebula is an emission nebula, known as the Rosette nebula because of its round, flower-like shape. Emission nebulae are clouds of gas and dust that are ionised by radiation from hot stars within them, causing them to glow. At the heart of the nebula (centre) is the cluster of young stars (NGC 2244) responsible for this ionisation. The strong stellar wind from these stars has cleared a hole around them. The whole Rosette nebula measures around 50 light years across; it lies approximately 4500 light years away in the constellation Monoceros.

Name of this nebula came from it's shape. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot central star, red color comes from clouds of hydrogen gas. Nebula is located in constellation Cassiopeia, 11 thousand light years away from Earth. Picture taken with newton 750mm f/5 telescope, astrophotography camera and hydrogen filter. Total exposure time: 9 hours.

NGC 281 is an H-alpha region in the constellation of Cassiopeia and it is 9500 light years away from Earth (so, it is still inside our galaxy). Starbirth region NGC 3324. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the edge of a nebula in the starbirth region NGC 3324. This is a region where nebulae (dust and gas clouds) glow under the impact of radiation from newly formed stars. The colours indicate three chemical elements: red shows emission from sulphur, green from hydrogen, and blue from oxygen. NGC 3324 is located in the constellation of Carina and is around 7200 light years from Earth. The area seen here is around 13.4 light years across. This image was obtained in 2006 and 2008, using HST's Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) and the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS).
