GTA V marks Los Santos' second appearance in the series after its 3D Universe counterpart in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which came out in 2004. The new rendition of the city is much more detailed, larger, and looks more alive than ever before. Los Santos is based on Los Angeles, California and its greater metropolitan area. Los Santos is Spanish for "The Saints", a play on "The Angels", which is the translation of Los Angeles.

Description: Aldea Malvada (Spanish for 'Evil Village') is a small, isolated burned ghost town at the northeastern edge of Tierra Robada, San Andreas in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is situated on top of a large mesa just east of El Quebrados, and west of Arco del Oeste and Sherman Reservoir. It appears to be the remains of a village whose origins are likely older and from a different culture than those of Bone County's ghost town, Las Brujas, likely ruins from an Ancient Pueblo tribe. Aldea Malvada may be based on the Pueblo Grande de Nevada, a complex of villages founded by pre-Ancestral Puebloans.
