Description: We found box drains on Oak Island. Underneath the coconut husk was a layer of beach stones five feet deep. Beneath the beach stones were five finger-drains constructed of flat stones, converging into a single drain. The coconut husk worked as a barrier against sand to allow water into the drains.
Description: According to the earliest Oak Island theory, the pit held a pirate treasure buried by Captain Kidd. Another pirate theory involved Edward Teach (Blackbeard), who said that he buried his treasure "where none but Satan and myself can find it." Templars, Masons, or Incas seeking to squirrel their treasure away from Spanish conquistadors may have created the Money Pit.

Treasure hunters have scoured the island, finding a formation of boulders called Nolan's Cross, the beach at Smith's Cove, and a triangle-shaped swamp, and a stone cipher. Early treasure hunters believed it was buried pirate treasure, left there by Captain Kidd or Blackbeard. Nobody really knows what lays beneath ground.
