'sic, sic iuvat ire sub umbras. hauriat hunc oculis ignem crudelis ab alto Dardanus, et nostrae secum ferat omina mortis.' dixerat, atque illam media inter talia ferro conlapsam aspiciunt comites, ensemque cruore spumantem sparsasque manus. it clamor ad alta atria: concussam bacchatur Fama per urbem." This part of the Aeneid never fails to make me cry, it's so beautifully written and really pulls at my heartstrings. I couldn't get it out of my head for days and I wanted to make a design that I hope does Dido some justice.

Hannibal Barca was a Carthaginian general, considered one of the greatest military commanders in history. One of his most famous achievements was at the outbreak of the Second Punic War, when he marched an army which included war elephants from Iberia over the Pyrenees and the Alps into Italy.
