Porsche Carrera 911 Onesies
1974 marked the beginning of what would become a long string of turbocharged 911-based racecars. With radical new aerodynamics and a 2.1 liter 500 horsepower flat six-cylinder engine, the factory campaigned two of these cars (4 total factory works cars were made) in the World Manufacturers Championship series. The car finished second at LeMans in '74, a significant event in that its engine would form the basis of future Porsche attempts in sportscar racing, and can be regarded as the start of its commitment to turbocharging.
