Neskowin, Oregon is a little known town located just north of Lincoln City. It was originally referred to by local natives as Nestugga (or Nestucca) called "Woods," the area was eventually abandoned. Neskowin as it became known means plenty of fish; reports in the early 20th century note that the waters were black because of the abundance. Settlers eventually came in 1886, when a sailing vessel filled with wheat and lumber ran aground. It remains to this day a quiet spot on the coast, largely unchanged since the early 70's. This design is influenced by the icon landscape feature in Neskowin.

The Osprey is a predatory bird up along the United States eastern seaboard and Europe. It eats fish. When it catches a fish it will turn the fish into the direction it is traveling to make itself more aerodynamic. One smart bird. Image was rendered in charcoal pencil on vellum paper. Ospreys are magnificent birds and it is a great experience to see them hunting for fish. They swoop down and catch the unsuspecting fish in their talons as this one has just done, before flying away to a nearby tree or nest to enjoy it's catch.

Also called sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey that was seriously endangered by effects of pesticides in mid-20th century; since DDT and related pesticides were banned in 1972, Ospreys have made a good comeback in many parts of North America. Found near water, either fresh or salt, where large numbers of fish are present. May be most common around major coastal estuaries and salt marshes, but also regular around large lakes, reservoirs, rivers. Migrating Ospreys are sometimes seen far from water, even over the desert.
