Ragdolls were originally bred by Ann Baker in the 1960s. They have a not-too-long coat that is fluffy and thick with a distinctive upside-down "v" on their foreheads and distinctive blue eyes. They're called the "dogs of cats" because of their friendly and playful temperament.

There is no official record of the Birman cat's origins. The name comes from the French word for Burma where these cats are said to be companions of the temple priests on the Mount of Lugh. Cat breed historians aren't sure when the two breeds diverted, or what breed was bred with the Siamese to give the Balinese it's luscious hair, but nothing about all of that stops this from being an old, beautiful, noble breed!
