The Sheboygan Indians operated from 1940–1942 and 1946–1953 as members of the Class D Wisconsin State League. The Indians were preceded by the Sheboygan Chairmakers, who played in the Independent Wisconsin State League from 1923–1932 and 1934–1937. Joe Hauser was the manager of the Indians for their duration. Hauser, incidentally, had been a major-league first baseman in the 1920s primarily with the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1924, he hit 27 home runs to finish second in the American League to Babe Ruth. Hauser began his career with the Sheboygan Indians as a player/manager and then a full-time manager.

In 1996, a New Jersey high school girls' soccer team travels to Seattle for a national tournament. While flying over Canada, their plane crashes deep in the wilderness, and the surviving team members are left stranded for nineteen months. The series chronicles their attempts to stay alive as some of the team members are driven to cannibalism. It also focuses on the lives of the survivors 25 years later in 2021, as the events of their ordeal continue to affect them many years after their rescue.

Bacteriophages are viruses that infect bacteria; T4 is specific to E.coli. It is secured to the surface of the cell by spidery tail fibres. The tail, a contractile sheath, shortens to allow a syringe-like tube (below base plate of tail) to enter the cell membrane, emptying the DNA contents of the head into the bacterium. The virus has a protein coat or capsid (yellow), which is made up of helically arranged subunits called capsomeres. Within the coat is the genetic material, which in this virus is single-stranded RNA. The diffuse red surrounding the coat is the viral envelope, consisting of lipoprotein material. The rabies virus is transmitted to humans from an infected animal bite. The O157 strain produces a toxin that can cause bloody diarrhoea and kidney failure. It can be fatal, especially in the very young or elderly. The virus particles have an enveloped outer coat, or capsid, bearing the proteins (green) haemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N), which allow the virus to enter and leave host cells. As with all viruses, influenza cannot reproduce by itself, instead entering cells and hijacking their biochemical machinery to produce more copies of the virus. Flu usually causes lethargy, aching muscles, fever and nausea. Influenza B, however, is less virulent than influenza A, due to the limited host range and its slower rate of evolution (by 2 to 3 times).
