This is an image of a small colonial church located in the heart of the City of Tegucigalpa. You wouldn't know it is there unless you were walking the local streets. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. Iglesia de San Ginés, Arrecife, Lanzarote, May 2022 The church of San Ginés, in Arrecife, the main city and port of Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The church was built in 1574 on the site of a hermitage that contained images of Saint Peter and Saint Ginés. The church was flooded and completely rebuilt in 1667, and expanded in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Date: 15th May 2022.

One of the most picturesque and lesser-known churches in the city of Tegucigalpa is the church of San José de la Montaña. It is located in the highest part of the Buenos Aires neighborhood (made out of a series of small hamlets). This neighborhood is situated high in the city around the periphery of the historical center of Tegucigalpa where many little known small churches were built over the years in the highest parts of their neighborhoods and colonies. They were built to attract the local residents and capture the attention of people passing by. En mi pais se invoca a Santa Bárbara cada vez que hay tormenta pero leyendo sobre ella no se supone que sea patrona "del clima" sin embargo se le considera patrona de los mineros, los artilleros y armeros del ejercito. Santa Bárbara era muy joven cuando fue martirizada por su propio padre a quien lo partió un rayo (merecidamente) y siempre se le representa cerca de rayo. Usualmente se le muestra vestida de rojo y azul pero yo he preferido colores más suaves.

Another image of Comayagua’s first church called Iglesia de La Merced. Building of this church started in 1550 and was elevated to the category of cathedral in 1561becoming one of the first in America. It was the first church ever to built in Honduras, and was called initially Church of the Immaculate Conception. The main Altarpiece was built in 1820 by the carpenter Coronado Chávez, who in 1845 became the president of Honduras. The altar has several interesting golden pieces in addition to images of the Dolorosa, the Nazareno, San Pedro, San Juan and the Virgen de la Merced of the seventeenth century. One of its towers was the site that initially housed the clock Moro Donado by Felipe III (currently still in a working condition). ...
