In the heart of Whidbey Island, the red Coupeville Wharf is a charming and historic destination. Originally built around 1900 as a grain wharf, this lovely pier and red building currently houses a coffee shop, restaurants, kayak rental, marine services, gift stores, and a museum. If you visit Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, you might want to include this lovely wharf on your destination list. There's a small adjacent park where people picnic, paint the wharf, and enjoy the variable PNW weather.

Fort Worden Historical State Park in Port Townsend is a great destination for the day or for a long camping trip. This particular image is the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, with an amazing array of programs for all ages. At this beautiful park, people fly kites, sunbathe, beachcomb, sailing, camp out, visit historic officer's quarters, and just enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest scenery.
