Oedipus deciphered the enigma of the Sphinx of Thebes and escaped death! It was not devoured by the winged monster that furiously threw itself over a precipice. When human beings are born, they crawl, then they stand up and walk on their two legs, and in old age they use a cane to get around. So during its lifetime it uses 4, 2 and finally 3 "legs".

I recreated a 9th century bc ivory carving. The original piece was retrieved by the Israeli police from a dealer selling looted archaeological artefacts.
