Highland Cattle are a Scottish cattle breed. They are adapted to the cold weather and stay outside throughout the year. We have been raising these fluffy cows since 2007 on our farm in Finland.

From an original Engraving from the Illustrated London News December 1848 The publication of this image spread the use of Christmas Trees like wildfire, and led wrongly to the belief that Albert had introduced the Christmas Tree to Britain. It was actually Queen Charlotte, the German born wife of George III, for a party she held in 1800 Please note there may be some age related marks from the original which will show also on any print ordered. From medieval times up to the beginning of the 19th century, every British town and city of any note had a band of waites. Their duties varied from time to time and place to place, but included playing their instruments through the town at night, waking the townsfolk on dark winter mornings by playing under their windows, welcoming Royal visitors by playing at the town gates, and leading the Mayor's procession on civic occasions. The 30-Star Flag: This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th, 1848. A star was added for the admission of Wisconsin (May 29th, 1848) and was to last for 3 years

Founded in 1848, the Daeufer Brewery specialized in classical dark beers and built up a pretty respectable following throughout the midwest. They changed names a few times and expanded their operations along the way, but it wasn't until Daeufer merged with another local brewery, Lieberman Brewing Co., to become Daeufer-Lieberman Brewing Company that they became the first large-scale brewery in Allentown. They continued to produce dark beers like their most popular Bock, almost exclusively, and did so under a number of names, including the original Daeufer's label, but after World War II, the taste of returning G.I.s began leaning towards lighter beers which led to Daeufer-Lieberman closing up shop for good in 1949.

IC 1848 is an open cluster of stars surrounded by a cloud of dust and gas over 150 light-years across and located about 6,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia.

Phineas Gage's head injury. This lithograph, published in 1850, shows the head injury to Phineas Gage (1823-1860) that led to important advances in understanding how the human brain works. Gage was working on the construction of a railway in Vermont, USA, when, on 13 September 1848, an accident with an explosive charge sent a tamping iron (1 metre long and 3.2 centimetres wide) into his head. It passed under his left cheekbone, through the left frontal lobe of his brain, and out through the top of his head. Gage initially appeared to make a full recovery, but it was later reported that his personality had been changed by the accident. Artwork from The American Journal of the Medical Sciences.
