Description: Both sportsmen and tourists have been traveling to the Parlin area for outdoor adventure, lodging, and natural beauty for over a hundred years. At the turn of the century Parlin boasted numerous cabins, the Lake Parlin House Hotel, and the totally self-sufficient Peal farm which still has some of the original buildings located on the west site of Route 201 to this day. Lake Parlin House hotel burned in the 50’s while the main house at the Peal farm burned in the early 70’s. The Kruse family has owned property in the Jackman Region and been seasonal residents since the early 70’s. The Lake Parlin Lodge property was acquired by the Kruse’s in 2006 after several prior ownerships, including Unicorn Rafting in the 80’s and early 90’s.

Description: We're not sure if BJ Whistler is just an unfortunate name or a euphemism, but whatever the case, BJ Whistler's Tavern was a popular watering hole in Maryland's Deep Creek Lake region. Sitting lakeside off of Garrett Highway in the town of Oakland, BJ Whistler's was in operation for three decades before the owners decided to retire and shut the tavern down, leaving locals and tourists alike with a hole in their heart.
