(In 1988, the building was completely remodeled and reopened as the Salish Lodge. The lodge that inspired The Great Northern Hotel is the Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo, Washington. The Kiana Lodge was built in the late 1920s and is furnished with alder bentwood pieces dating from that era.
