This is a very special print by artist and designer Annalee Beer of EverAfter Artisanry. Annalee specializes in the creation of gorgeous heirloom floral sculptures. Every petal and leaf is created one by one, each element made by hand. These are then formed into flowers and greenery and arranged into sculptures the way a floral designer might arrange organic flowers. This print has been developed my modifying a photograph of one of these wonderful pieces into a striking black and white print. Eagles and Prey is the oldest known sculpture in any New York City park. On the western edge of the Mall, the bronze statue is particularly notable for its level of exquisite detail. Cast in Paris in 1850, the sculpture was gifted to the City by Gordon Webster Burnham and installed in Central Park in 1863. It was created by Christophe Fratin, who produced a series of small bronze pieces that were thought to be fanciful and romantic in tone. Eagles and Prey illustrates his interest in the elemental forces of nature: a helpless goat is caught in the talons of two birds of prey. The work's rich surface texture and anatomical detail are typical of Fratin's style.

My Dad has a book from the 1960s of artwork from East Africa. He spent three and a half years there in the '60s. The book says this was possibly a mask for a secret society, due to the beads over the mouth.
