November is National Diabetes Awareness month. In this community, we like to say that we're not defined by our diabetes, or that we HAVE diabetes, not that we ARE diabetic. But I believe that I am who I am because I have diabetes. There is no doubt in my mind that I am stronger, more patient, more aware, more in-tune, more accepting, more compassionate, and more ambitious because I have a broken organ that challenges me on all of those qualities every single day. No matter how you cut it, diabetes is a part of all of us. We are all intrinsically connected to it, and to one another in our 1 million+ person family. As much as I'd like all of us to not have diabetes anymore, and for there to be an imminent cure, the reality of today is that we are who we are, diabetes included. And I'm grateful that if nothing else, t1d has granted me the connection to myself, and to this incredibly badass tribe.

The pink ribbon is the most prominent symbol of breast cancer awareness. The pink ribbon is associated with individual generosity, faith in scientific progress, and a "can-do" attitude. It encourages consumers to focus on the emotionally appealing ultimate vision of a cure for breast cancer, rather than on the fraught path between current knowledge and any future cures. October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.

If you are looking to cut out Christmas bonuses this year, may I suggest a subscription to the Jelly of the Month Club. Just kidding. Clark Griswold's boss learned that it isn't the best idea, but that doesn't mean this shirt isn't. Just like Clark got the last laugh with his supersized bonus, you can too with this Jelly of the Month club t-shirt. It is the gift that keeps on giving.
