Cupid’s Gaze

This is an image of The National Residence of the Invalids in Paris. It is also known by many other names, including L'Hôtel des Invalides and Musée de l'Armée. Essentially it is a fairly large complex of buildings containing various museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans (which was the building's original purpose). The various buildings include the Musée de l'Armée (the military museum of the Army of France), the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, the Musée d'Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of France's war heroes, notably Napoleon Bonaparte.
