Tour of the Gila is an annual 5 day cycling race. This image was taken during the Stage 4 Critirium, an all day racing event held in downtown Silver City, New Mexico.

Criterium Race 2010

In Silver City, NM there is always much excitement during the 5 days of the 'Tour of the Gila' bike race. During the Criterium event the cyclist race around the downtown city blocks. This is one of my 'Photo Art' creations, capturing the energy and the excitement of the cyclist coming down Ballard Street but also retains the charm of downtown setting in southwest New Mexico while telling a bit more of this story.

The Tour of the Gila is a premiere cycling event which takes place in Southwest New Mexico yearly. Being a five-day race, it provides many photographic opportunities. Also providing many art opportunities as well. This is a digital abstract, surreal and impressionistic artsy feel to the Criterium race in Downtown Silver City, New Mexico.

With the combination of the expression on this cyclist face, showing the burn and the excitement along with these wonderful colors....... he was an excellent focal point in this photograph. Allowing him to stand out from the crowd a bit more with some help with a motion blur of the background seemed rather fitting. Silver City, New Mexico USA.
