Recollection Tapestries

Istanbul, Turkey. This is the view of the new city, taken from the other side of the Bosphorus River, in the old city. We spent a few days in Istanbul, visiting sites and taking in the rich culture that Turkey is so well known for. This scene stood out to me, among the more modern buildings of the new city stood this tower, like something straight out of a Disney cartoon. Galata Tower was constructed in 1348 as part of the Geones empire. It was used as a vantage point for spotting enemy fleets of ships, fires in the outer reaches of the land and as a weapons store.
