A Morris 8 radiator grill, one of the more affordable vintage cars. Lovely. The Morris Eight is a small family car produced by Morris Motors from 1935 to 1948. It was inspired by the sales popularity of the Ford Model Y, styling of which the Eight closely followed. The success of the car enabled Morris to regain its position as Britain's largest motor manufacturer.

This design was inspired by a visit to the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, Spain. The garden originated from the orchard used for the teaching of botanical studies, which created in the 16th century. Today it has an extensive collection of some three thousand species of trees and plants from around the world. We were very impressed by the collection of desert plants at the north-eastern end of the Garden: Aloe, Aizoaceae, Crassulaceae, and the succulent flora of the Canary Islands, different species of Aeonium, agave, and cactus to name a few. And of course, the beautiful rose-shaped Echeveria succulent native to the semi-desert regions of Central America. It covered the earth and stones like a dense living carpet.

Electroplating factory. Historical artwork of the Elkingtons' electroplating factory in Birmingham, England. In 1840, George Richards Elkington (1801- 1865), with his cousin Henry, patented the new potassium cyanide electroplating method of John Wright. They are generally credited with inventing the first successful electroplating process. The Elkington cousins used gold and silver to plate a wide range of metal objects, from spectacle frames to pen nibs. Using their new technique, they came to dominate the plating industry. Electroplating uses an electric current to deposit metal ions from solution as a layer on the metal object to be plated.
