U.S. Army Berlin (USAB) was a command of the United States Army created in December 1961 at the height of the Berlin Wall Crisis. It was created as a separate command from the U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) which had previously been in command of American troops in Berlin.

The 240th were located at Bearcat, Binh Hoa Province, Vietnam. Bearcat was located near Saigon on Highway One. Known as the “Greyhounds, Mad Dogs, and Kennel Keepers,” the 240th operated UH1C gunships, armed with mini-guns and rockets in the gun platoon, call sign “Mad Dog” and a transport or slick platoon flying UH1H slicks, call sign “Greyhound.” The maintenance platoon was known as the “Kennel Keepers.”

The 19th Engineer Battalion is a United States Army engineering unit. This unit provides general engineering support during military operations. It is an Echelon Above Brigade (EAB) engineer unit, composed of five-line companies, one support company, one headquarters company, and one firefighting detachment. As of October 16, 2005, it is stationed at Fort Knox under the 20th Engineer Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps. The 19th Engineer Battalion O/O deploys engineer forces to provide mission command and general engineer support to decisive action in support of Expeditionary, Army, Joint, or Combined Military Operations world-wide

UH-34D was accepted by the Marine Corps on December 21, 1962 at the Sikorsky factory in Stratford, CT and assigned to the Purple Foxes of HMM-364. It was flown across country to its new base at MCAF Santa Ana. In September 1963 it deployed with HMM-364 to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa. In December 1963 it was transferred to the Flying Tigers of HMM-361 where they remained at Futenma until they were sent aboard the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) for combat operations off Vietnam. ‘219 returned to the Purple Foxes aboard USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) with continued combat operations off Vietnam.

It was created as an auxiliary unit, the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) on 15 May 1942 by Public Law 554,and converted to full status as the WAC on 1 July 1943. Its first director was Oveta Culp Hobby, a prominent society woman in Texas. The WAC was disbanded in 1978, and all units were integrated with male units.

The Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog was a liaison and observation aircraft. It was the first all-metal fixed-wing aircraft ordered for and by the United States Army since the U.S. Army Air Forces separated from the Army in 1947, becoming its own branch of service, the United States Air Force. The Bird Dog had a lengthy career in the U.S. military, as well as in other countries.
