It was More than a Mall. Summit Park Mall was an enclosed shopping mall that opened in 1972 with the original anchor stores being Sears, AM&A's, Hens & Kelly and Jenss. Hens & Kelly moved out in 1982 and remained vacant until 1992 when Macy's opened its first closeout store in the space. The Macy's closeout store closed in 1995 and was never replaced by another anchor. By the late 1990s, the mall was 40% vacant. Jenss closed in 1998. By 2004 the mall was 65% vacant. In 2009, the mall's owners announced that the mall would close following the company's filing for bankruptcy, however the mall was allowed to stay open after the court decided to extend the deadline for closure. By 2009, the only stores in operation were Sears, The Bon-Ton and Save-A-Lot. As of September 2017, Save-A-Lot closed permanently, leaving only Sears and The Bon-Ton still open.

There may be an end of an era at Paramatown mall but you can keep that era alive with this tremendous shirt. Parmatown mall originally opened as a shopping plaza in 1956. It was enclosed by the mid-1960s. The original anchors were Higbee's and May Company. In 1967 General Cinema opened the Parmatown Theater with two screens, which was unheard of at the time. A third screen opened in the 1970s, along with two more in the 1980s. General Cinema closed the theater in 2001. Higbee's (which became Dillard's in 1992) closed in 2000. The mall was renovated in the early 2000s, which included the demolition of the old Higbee's structure which was then replaced with a Walmart in 2004. In 2012 Macy's (originally May Company) announced the store would close. A project announced in 2015 would see the entire mall converted to an open-air center with the malls interior being demolished for store fronts.

Westland Mall opened in February 1969 and was one of four directionally-named shopping centers in Columbus. The original anchor stores were Lazarus, Sears, and JC Penney. Westland was considered a major landmark in the Columbus area, and a premier shopping destination for the city's far west side. Westland Mall faced many challenges towards the end of the 90's, in particular the opening of the nearby Mall at Tuttle Crossing. At that time JCPenney also left Westland for Tuttle, giving Tuttle four anchor stores and reducing Westland to two. The Lazarus store was converted to Lazarus-Macy's in 2003, and subsequently to Macy's in 2005. Macy's closed in 2007, leaving Sears as the sole remaining anchor. By 2010, Westland contained fewer than 15 active businesses and one major anchor. In 2011 Sears closed it's entrance to the mall and by 2012 Westland Mall was reported as closed to all traffic. In 2017, Sears announced that it would close by early September, which will leave the former mall entirely empty of tenants.

"I say to you againe, doe not call up Any that you cannot put downe; by the Which I mean, Any that can in Turne call up somewhat against you, whereby your Powerfullest Devices may not be of use. Ask of the Lesser, lest the Greater shall not wish to answer, and shall commande more than you." -- H. P. Lovecraft, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward
