Description: Spirit of Spider is a mystical design inspired by the sacred symbolism of the spider as dream-weaver, intuitive guide and guardian of creative flow. She reminds us that we are infinitely resourceful, and that every thread we spin carries meaning and magic. A totem of transformation, patience and hidden power, Spider speaks to artists, seers and all who walk between worlds.
Description: '‘Snake medicine speaks of deep transformation and cellular renewal. Just as she sheds her skin when it grows too tight, she calls us to release what no longer fits. Old stories, pain and patterns must fall away so that healing can take root. Her presence signals a time to honour the ending, trust the process and emerge renewed, stronger and aligned with the next phase of your path.’
Description: This majestic eagle captures the energy of clarity, strength, and soulful vision. Soaring through golden skies after the storm, she reminds us to rise above the noise and see life from a higher perspective. Painted with intention and purpose, this powerful totem design brings focus, protection, and guidance to any space or sacred object. A meaningful choice for spiritual gifts, home décor, accessories, and more. ‘When Eagle swoops into your life, it brings messages of truth, insight, and timeless wisdom from a higher perspective. With its guidance, obstacles dissolve and challenges lighten — clearing the way for you to rise with purpose and reach your destined success.’
Description: After every storm, there is stillness — a moment when the land reclaims its breath and peace quietly returns. “Cuckmere Haven After the Storm” is an original oil painting by Sonia Finch, capturing the quiet beauty of the South Downs after a wild and windswept day. The river winds gently through open hills, while sheep graze untroubled, grounded in the eternal rhythm of nature. Beneath the soft sky, a sense of deep calm and balance emerges — the hush after the weather has passed. This piece is rooted in a personal story: a stormy walk through Cuckmere Haven with a dear soul sister, on a day when grief was carried on the wind and healing began to return.
Description: This joyful rainbow finch captures the essence of freedom and vibrant energy. Its colorful wings soar through the air with grace, symbolizing hope, renewal, and the lightness of spirit. Inspired by nature and movement, this whimsical artwork celebrates life’s small joys and the beauty of each moment. A perfect design for uplifting gifts, home décor, accessories, and more. 'Finch reminds us to savor life’s small joys and gather wisdom from every moment. Its freedom and lightness carry the seeds of growth on its wings, with vibrant diversity reflecting adaptability and the joy of variety in all things. With Finch medicine, even the smallest step leads to fulfilment.'
Description: Golden Days on the South Downs in the Sun captures the essence of a perfect summer walk through one of England’s most cherished landscapes. Bathed in warm sunlight, the rolling hills, golden fields, and wildflower-lined paths invite you to lose yourself in nature’s tranquility. Inspired by a peaceful journey from Littlington to Cuckmere Haven, this painting evokes nostalgia, freedom, and a deep connection to the land.
Description: Crantock Bay is lined with beautiful clean sandy beaches, interspersed with the turquoise meandering River Gannel making its way to the Atlantic Ocean. All around there are beautiful trees and flowers sprouting from the banks, with seagulls searching for the crumbs from the tables of the café. On a sunny day it is quite heavenly.
Description: February has often been considered a bleak month like the darkness before the dawn of Spring. The snowdrop contains a very special magic that brings hope for new beginnings, rebirth and triumph over difficulties. What a magical gift of abundance this humble little flower brings us.
Description: In this painting, I wanted to explore the fairy role of protector during the hibernation time - particularly January when it is freezing cold and the light days are short. I chose the hedgehog because it is one of my most favourite visitors to the garden and it's colours and textures are beautiful when contrasted with the crispy autumn leaves. Dreaming is a state that is known to be a place where spirits can communicate with you. Fairy mythology shows that fairies can take a guardianship role, whether it be to a tree, flower, or being. Elementals will stay close to their wards during hibernation.
Description: In this painting, I tried to capture the joy I feel for the fairy realms in the expression of the wise woman elf as she walks through the woodland wildflowers watching the flower fairies spin and dance around the daisies, cornflowers and buttercups. The painting was inspired by the beautiful woodland next to my home where there are magical waterfalls and a stream that meanders through the trees and wildflower carpet.
Description: Undine mermaids enjoy the bubbling waterfalls cascading from the woodland streams. Undines are a type of water nymphs that live in fresh-water forest pools and waterfalls. They are much smaller than their sea-dwelling cousins and have quite a different countenance. They tend to seek out waterfalls and forest pools which are natural portals to other realms and have beautiful singing voices. The inspiration for this piece came from the nature reserve close to my home where there are little waterfalls overhung by the trees and my love of aquatic life - particularly in rivers and streams.
Description: I have wanted to return to the Lavender Fields for a few years now and was surprised when experimenting with skies one day to music, that this painting started to appear. The hazy purples, blues and pinks complemented by the yellow sun and sunset pink and orange colours were captivating and magnetic, pulling me in to the picture and taking me on a journey through the lavender fields. I could almost smell and touch the intoxicating blissful aroma of the lavender in the setting sun. The oak tree must be the most joyful tree in the world. Just heavenly...
Description: "The cat's playing with the Christmas Tree decorations again..!" Cats probably have more fun playing with Christmas trees than young children - climbing up the branches, playing with the baubles.. They can be soooo naughty! That is why I decided to base my second Christmas painting on this topic. What if they were not just playing with the baubles, but playing tag with the house fairies and elves? What fun that would be! Created from an oil painting 'Fairy Tag at Christmas' by Sonia Finch. © 2020 Sonia Finch
Description: Mermaids play with a humpback whale, whilst dolphins, sting rays and coral reef aquatic fish go about their daily life. Beyond the reef near the ruins of Atlantis is a stargate. As you fall asleep you may ask 'where will the Atlantis star gate take me in my dreams? The painting reminds us that we are the guardians of our beautiful water world, rich with mythology and legend that is forever expanding with our imaginations.
Description: Noah receives a leaf from a dove with joy. The waters have receeded and the animals and Noah's family are safe. The many delighted animals, birds and reptiles start to make their way out of the ark. Mrs Noah patiently waits with the animals below holding her cats in her arms. There are girafes, crocodiles, tigers, hippos, snakes, owls, monkeys, lions, sheep.. so many animals to see... How many could there be?
Description: I guess the biggest challenge I had was having such a large (AO) canvas, and having to paint so much detail within it with a fine paintbrush. I was creating a world. I kept finding holes and burrows and places where life dwells and could have gone on and on... I imagined how a child would feel falling asleep in their bedroom hating the dark, but finding themselves lost in this world as they fell soundly asleep.. I imagined how the tree would continue to glow in the dark so that all the fairies could see it from miles around. Finally, my pot of fairy dust arrived and after much experimentation, the little world began to glow in the dark... Isn't it wonderful to see the world through a child's eyes!
Description: A magical painting of a bluebell fairy wood - the first of three spring fairy paintings. It is May and the bluebells create a carpet of beautiful blues and purples across the woodland. A badger set play amongst the bluebells and flower fairies work with the butterflies to help the plants and trees in the woodland thrive and grow. The fairies watch on from their treetop home as the sunshine streams through the trees.
Description: When you are a child, the world around you is so enchanting and full of wonder. I recall picking dandelion clocks and blowing the seeds into the air and my grandparents sharing with me that fairies tell the time by how many blows it takes to remove all the seeds. Therefore, the second Spring fairy painting of the series is called 'Spring Timekeeper Fairy'. The ladybirds going about their work represent protection, healing, good fortune, and grace in Native American spirituality as it is a very spiritual animal that often protects plants and flowers from pests and other bugs to help them thrive.
Description: A fairy dashes across a wood blanketed with anemonie flowers riding a hare in the moonlight on a full moon. The painting was inspired by the beautiful woodland close to my home in East Sussex where bluebells grow in abundance. I decided to work on a small series of oil paintings exploring the elemental and natural world in the spring. Other paintings in the Spring Elemental Collection include 'Spring Timekeeper Fairy' and 'Spring Bluebell Fairies'. There is also an Autumn Elemental Collection too.
Description: It's Christmas time again, and it wouldn't be complete without a good ol' fashioned pantomime for laughs! And there are few more evil baddies to boo than the evil queen in Snow White. This one is particularly furious because the local pantomime dame is way fairer than she is! I hope this painting brings back the nostalgia of childhood pantomimes! The sounds of cheering 'It's behind you!', 'Oh no it isn't!' and raucous slap stick comedy.
Description: Haysden Farm is just outside of Tonbridge in Kent, near the lakes. Beautiful poppies around the pathway draw you in as you pass by.

Description: Tonbridge is a very special place for me as it is my home town. As children, my sisters and I would run up and down the pathway to the top of the lookout mound where there is a wishing well. My father would tell me that the dip was a sleeping dragon and we would tip toe around it so not to wake it. We had many idyllic picnics whilst rowing a boat on the River Medway with our grandparents. I chose this perspective because it encompasses so many things about Tonbridge - the 'one ton bridge', the river, the castle and the town clock.
Description: Hastings old town on the Kentish coastline, has a gorgeous little fishing marina where you can watch the fishing boats being towed in and out of the sea with hoards of seagulls flocking overhead, hoping for a morsel or two to get thrown in their direction. Everywhere there are lobster pots and fishing nets, bits of old machinery and equipment lying around. It's a great place to hang out to sit and watch the fishermen at work with the tide laying up on the shingle shore.
Description: ‘Rabbits instinctively recognises the signs of danger and success at lightening speed. Rabbit encourages us replace fear with careful planning to respond efficiently to life’s situations without wasting energy in worry. Then invites us to play and savour the creativity and abundance of mother earth.’
Description: Intoxicating summer days.. I had some of the most wonderful days out exploring the Kentish Vineyards in the spring, and met some gorgeous alpacas whilst soaking up the beautiful scenery. We are so lucky in England to have some genius wine growers, who not only produce sumptuous wine fit for a queen, but imprint contrasting textures, colours and patterns in perfect harmony through their art on the countryside. So I am exploring the Kent and Sussex countryside to find these gorgeous scenes that make painting such a joy. I hope you enjoy my painting.
