Description: The Falstaff Brewing Corporation was a major American brewery located in St. Louis, Missouri. With roots in the 1838 Lemp Brewery of St. Louis, the company was renamed after the Shakespearean character Sir John Falstaff in 1903. Production peaked in 1965 with 7,010,218 barrels brewed, and then dropped 70% in the next 10 years. While its smaller labels linger on today, its main label Falstaff Beer went out of production in 2005. The rights to the brand are currently owned by Pabst Brewing Company.
Description: Brasserie Amos brewery was founded in 1868 by Gustave Amos. In 1905 the brewery was the third largest in the Moselle region of France producing over 70,000 hl of craft beer annually. Description: The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was founded in 1849 with their brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and once the largest producer of beer in the United States. Its namesake beer, Schlitz, was known as “The beer that made Milwaukee famous” and was advertised with the slogan “When you’re out of Schlitz, you’re out of beer.” Schlitz first became the largest beer producer in the US in 1902 and enjoyed that status at several points during the first half of the 20th century. This design comes from an NOS iron-on that was painstakingly recreated in all of its 70s glory.
Description: William J. Lemp of St. Louis created Falstaff in 1903. When Prohibition forced the closure of the Lemp brewery, local brewer Joseph Griesedieck purchased the Falstaff name in 1920 and changed his company’s name to Falstaff Corp., eventually to be renamed Falstaff Brewing. Post prohibition, Falstaff would become the country’s third-largest brewer from 1957 to 1960, with its production peaking at 7 million barrels in 1966.
