Description: The Penthouse was a jazz club in Seattle, most remembered for John Coltrane's performance there in September 1965. The Penthouse opened in 1962 in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood, founded by Charlie Puzzo. Over the next seven years, Puzzo presented such artists as Miles Davis, Bill Evans, The Montgomery Brothers, Stan Getz, Anita O’Day, Bill Cosby, Little Richard and Aretha Franklin. The club was on the ground floor of the Kenneth Hotel at 701 First Avenue, near the corner of Cherry Street, a building originally built as the Safe Deposit Building after the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, replacing the 1884 Merchant’s National Bank Building on the same site. Jim Wilke hosted Thursday night broadcasts from the club for KING radio.

Description: For jazz musicians who have ever heard 'it's just jazz, they said' and then faced a chart full of impossible syncopation, this distressed grunge scene captures that exact panic. An angry eighth note with its hands up stands on a shattered staff, surrounded by black ink and crimson splatters, while the scattered letters echo the chaotic grind of rehearsals, theory classes, and sight-reading. It speaks to music majors, teachers, and band members who live the everyday frustration of making jazz look easy when it never is. A relatable visual for the practice room, recital prep, or any musician with a dark sense of humor.
Description: MISFIT- the word "MISFIT" is prominently displayed in bold, letters. The typography is edgy with cut-out letters like a ransom note to define a rebellious spirit of nonconformity to normality. Celebrating those who dare to be different and showcase their vibrant tapestry of interests and passions that make every misfit a unique and extraordinary individual.
Description: Musical Note - Clarinet presents a unique silhouette where a musician sits gracefully on the stem of a quaver note while playing the clarinet. Inside the round note head, the clarinet is clearly placed, becoming the heart of the composition. From the clarinet, birds take flight, symbolizing freedom, creativity, and the emotional voice of woodwind music. This visual captures not only the elegance of the clarinet but also the passion and inspiration it brings to musicians and music lovers alike. Perfect for clarinet players, orchestra enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates the soulful and smooth tones of this timeless instrument.
