Description: Bobby Byrd. 1971. Produced by James Brown with the J.B.'s, released on King Records — the record most credited with kicking off hip hop's love affair with James Brown samples. Eric B. & Rakim built their own "I Know You Got Soul" around it in 1987. From there it spread everywhere — sampled on well over a hundred records since. Set in Lettro, then taken apart and rebuilt by hand — every flourish, swash, and joint reworked until the base font is barely recognisable. Dark brown fill, white inline, orange outer ring. Every My Type of Lyrics shirt carries a Spotify code. Scan it and the original plays. Instant. If you were there — you already know. If you weren't — scan the code first, then order the shirt.
