Description: Type O Negative was a band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1989.2 They are known as one of the first American groups to fuse genres of extreme metal with gothic metal and progressive metal: a sound characterized by distorted guitars and bass, low riffs, organ and synthesizer, plus the voice of Peter Steele, singer, bassist and leader.

Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "the Drab Four".
