Description: A viral social media rumor claims that cheaper kangaroo tail is being secretly substituted and sold as expensive beef oxtail. Social media claims: Videos on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook went viral with claims that people eating popular oxtail dishes—especially in Caribbean and US communities—are actually eating kangaroo meat. The look-alike factor: Once the meat is skinned, chopped into pieces, heavily seasoned, and cooked down in a thick gravy, it is very hard to tell the difference visually or by taste alone.
