Tokyo Cards
Description: This design was what originally sparked my interest in creating t-shirt designs and it was probably the most time consuming to create. This design was created using an image from my trip to Japan. This image was taken at the Itsukushima Shrine, also known as the Great Torii. The shrine is located on an island which is inhabited by deer which are very friendly to people. I waited in the rain for thirty minutes to get this image of the deer, and in the original image, I have the Great Torri framed in on the left side of the deer's head. The kanji "厳島神社" and "レトロディア" on the shirt says "Itsukushima Shrine" and "Retro Deer."

Description: This design was created using an image from my trip to Japan. The image was taken at the Zao Fox Village located in Fukuokayatsumiya, Shiroishi, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. If you could imagine a "Pet at Your Own Risk Zoo" with adorable furry creatures that like to spend their time either sleeping or begging for treats then that would be the Zao Fox Village. The kanji "フォックス 村" on the shirt says "Fox Village."
Description: "Luis Toledo (aka Laprisamata) is an illustrator from Madrid, Spain, whose work gives the audience the feeling of entering into another world. The abstract imagery in most of Luis Toledo’s work is similar to what one would picture in a dream or distant memory. The colorful, free-form shapes in Toledo’s collection are paired up with intricate depictions of people, skulls, nature, and other familiar imagery." Juxtapoz Magazine

Description: This is the kamon of the famous Takeda clan from the Sengoku period. The most famous Takeda member is Takeda Shingen who fought in the Battles of Kawanakajima against Uesugi Kenshin. The mon is an emblem to designate a family, clan or even an organization. The kamon is used specifically to identify a family. The mon is similar to the coat of arms from European heraldic tradition. Although, there is a big difference, the mon stays clean and minimalistic in design. European crests tend to get very complicated by combining other family crests over the generations. Mon and Kamon are usually designed using a roundel containing a abstracted, stylized image of an object. This object can be a plant, an animal, a tool, or anything you fa...
