Description: Johann Braun opened City Brewery in 1846. Valentin Blatz established a brewery next door in 1850 and merged both breweries upon Braun's death in 1852. After a fire destroyed much of the original brewery in 1872, Blatz was able to enlarge and update his facilities with new brewing technology. In 1875, Blatz was the first Milwaukee brewery to have a bottling department to package beer and ship nationally. It incorporated as the Valentin Blatz Brewing Company in 1889. In 1891, the company sold part of its brewing interests to an English syndicate. By the 1900s it was the city's third-largest brewer. Description: The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was founded in 1849 with their brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and once the largest producer of beer in the United States. Its namesake beer, Schlitz, was known as “The beer that made Milwaukee famous” and was advertised with the slogan “When you’re out of Schlitz, you’re out of beer.” Schlitz first became the largest beer producer in the US in 1902 and enjoyed that status at several points during the first half of the 20th century. This design comes from an NOS iron-on that was painstakingly recreated in all of its 70s glory.
Description: The Augustiner Brewery was first mentioned by name in 1328, established within an Augustianian Monastery which had been settled just outside the Munich city walls in an area called Haberfeld (or Haferfeld – "oat field") in 1294. The Monastery complex was the largest sacred building in Munich until the completion of the Frauenkirche cathedral in 1494. Description: The Dixie Brewing Company is a regional brewery founded in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 31, 1907. The brewing operation was located on Tulane Avenue until 2005 when it closed due to Hurricane Katrina. Beer was contract brewed out-of-state until November 2019 when a new brewery opened in New Orleans. Dixie Brewing was founded by Valentine Merz, and began production in 1907. The original brick Dixie Brewery building at 2401 Tulane Avenue at the corner of Tulane Avenue and Tonti Street was designed by the German architect Louis Lehle and completed in 1907 with a wooden extension added in 1919.
Description: The Falstaff Brewing Corporation was a major American brewery located in St. Louis, Missouri. With roots in the 1838 Lemp Brewery of St. Louis, the company was renamed after the Shakespearean character Sir John Falstaff in 1903. Production peaked in 1965 with 7,010,218 barrels brewed, and then dropped 70% in the next 10 years. While its smaller labels linger on today, its main label Falstaff Beer went out of production in 2005. The rights to the brand are currently owned by Pabst Brewing Company.
