Early items can still be valuable as can rarer types of items. As a Pre-Prohibition Brewery, any advertising items or collectibles are likely to be valuable and desirable to collectors as they tend to be hard to find. Phillip Jung Brewing Co was in an active brewing city. Milwaukee, WI was listed as having 74 breweries, which is quite a few. Sometimes a large number of breweries can lead to an active collecting community that will be willing to pay more for breweriana items than other collectors.
Description: Johann Braun opened City Brewery in 1846. Valentin Blatz established a brewery next door in 1850 and merged both breweries upon Braun's death in 1852. Description: William J. Lemp of St. Louis created Falstaff in 1903. When Prohibition forced the closure of the Lemp brewery, local brewer Joseph Griesedieck purchased the Falstaff name in 1920 and changed his company’s name to Falstaff Corp., eventually to be renamed Falstaff Brewing. Post prohibition, Falstaff would become the country’s third-largest brewer from 1957 to 1960, with its production peaking at 7 million barrels in 1966. The ’70s introduced a set of mascots – Fannie and Fearless. Existing in cartoon form, the duo were pictured having assorted adventures from skydiving and motorcycling to waterskiing and bear hunting, all of which included their favorite beer, Falstaff.
Description: The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was founded in 1849 with their brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and once the largest producer of beer in the United States. Its namesake beer, Schlitz, was known as “The beer that made Milwaukee famous” and was advertised with the slogan “When you’re out of Schlitz, you’re out of beer.” Schlitz first became the largest beer producer in the US in 1902 and enjoyed that status at several points during the first half of the 20th century. Description: Spoetzl Brewery is a brewery located in Shiner, Texas, U.S. It produces a diverse line of Shiner Beers, including their flagship Shiner Bock, a dark lager that is now distributed countrywide. The brewery is owned by the Gambrinus Company, a family-owned company based in San Antonio, which also owns Trumer Brewery in Berkeley, California. The Spoetzl Brewery started in 1909. It was originally named "The Shiner Brewing Association," (SBA) and was founded by German and Czech immigrants who had settled around the central Texas town of Shiner. Unable to find the type of beer they had known in their home countries, they decided to brew their own. It is the oldest independent brewery in Texas and one of the oldest independent breweries in the U.S.
