Skull Pattern Hats
Description: Under a full moon, a longhorn skull rises in front of a quiet desert canyon. The skull has a turquoise diamond pattern on its forehead, silver conchos, and beaded horn wraps with hanging feathers. Teal cacti, agave and pale desert flowers surround it, and a weathered wooden banner reads "I'm a Talafreako" in distressed cream lettering. The teal, brown and cream palette makes this a moody take on southwestern boho style, made for fans of desert nights and western skull art.
Description: I started this mini-series back in 2016 and, honestly, didn't know what the end result would be. At the time, I was just cranking them because they were fun, and I completed one within a few hours. The majority of the Skulls and Buddhas series are either 4x6 or 5x7 inches. It always seemed to me that the symbolism of skulls and the Buddha (in a meditative pose) is similar. In the practice of sitting meditation, we confront the inescapable reality of impermanence, and the skull often symbolizes mortality. The simple fact that we will have to face our own last breath.
Description: A richly detailed western design featuring a longhorn skull with a turquoise star on its forehead and beaded horn wraps hung with colorful feathers. Behind it, a fiery desert sunset glows over red mesas, framed by a geometric southwestern border. Saguaro cacti, agave and blooming prickly pear complete the scene, with "I'm a Talafreako" in distressed cream lettering underneath. The mix of turquoise, orange and red suits boho western and desert-inspired style.
