Description: Spy Hunter was a vehicular combat action game developed for video arcades in 1983. Designed as a vertical scrolling driving game with the player in the role of a spy driving a heavily armed super car, the object of the game was to travel the freeway, destroying as many enemy vehicles as possible while protecting civilian vehicles. Spy Hunter was produced in both sit-down and standard upright versions, with the latter being more common. The game's controls consisted of a steering wheel in the form of a futuristic aircraft-style yoke with several special buttons, a two-position stick shift and a pedal used for acceleration. Spy Hunter was a success in American arcades, where it was one of the top five highest-grossing games for 84 and 85.

Description: 80s music festivals held in San Bernardino, California. Created by Steve Wozniak, who believed that the '70s were the "me" generation, he intended the US Festivals to encourage the '80s to be more community-oriented and combine technology with music. The first event was held over Labor Day weekend in September '82, and the second was less than nine months later, over Memorial Day weekend in May '83. The '82 event had a mix of bands slotted over the three-day event, but '83 added themed days. May 28 was New Wave Day, May 29 was Heavy Metal Day, and May 30 was Rock Day. A Country Day was added that was held the following weekend on Saturday, June 4.
Description: Shotgun Red is a puppet best known as a co-host for the television talk show Nashville Now, a country music talk show that aired from 1983 to 1993 on The Nashville Network. Often appearing alongside the show's host, Ralph Emery, Shotgun Red was performed by Steve Hall, a musician, comedian, and voice artist from Sheldon, Iowa. The puppet, best recognized for his large gray mustache and straw cowboy hat, was discovered by Hall in 1980 in a Minnesota hobby shop, where he bought it for forty dollars. Hall and Shotgun "crashed" Ralph Emery's local morning TV show, and Emery fell in love with the puppet and later made him his co-host on Nashville Now. The puppet's popularity led to the duo releasing two albums, Ralph & Red: Songs for Children.

During the next three months, Stone established a chain by launching three more stores, growing it to more than 200 locations in 1987. In 1988, West Coast acquired all 455 National Video stores, giving them a total of 660 stores and making them the world’s largest video rental chain at that time. Like most brick and mortar video rental stores, West Coast Video folded in 2009, but some existing stores continued to use the West Coast banner and run independently before eventually folding as well over the years that followed.
