Description: This is an image of the ceiling of the Assembly Room within the Buxton Crescent. We were wandering around Buxton when it was mentioned to us that the room was going to be open to the public that morning. It was quite something to see, and not something that is normally openly available as it is a function space within a hotel. It would seem that the room was originally a ballroom when Buxton Crescent, a crescent shaped building in planform, was built in the early 1700s. It would have been a place for entertainment for wealthy visitors who were there to 'take the waters' at the spa. History aside, the room is spectacular. I do hope you enjoy the image.
