Description: This is an image of the tall Gothic-arched windows in the Lady Chapel adjacent to Ely Cathedral, in Cambridgeshire, England. The intricate tracery allows natural light to flood into chapel's interior. The architecture showcases the ornate stonework and a majestic sense of space. Built in the 14th century, the chapel sits next to the cathedral. When we were there, it looked as if they were setting up for a choral presentation, which only shows that if you build something that is truly useful, those who follow will look after it, even after 700 years.

We came across this church when exploring the town, where its medieval centre is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the church itself a National Cultural Monument in Czechia. This late medieval church features a superb vaulted ceiling, sitting atop gothic arches, with all supported by tall, stone columns. The tall stained glass windows provide abundant daylight, which gives this lofty space a lovely airy feeling. What I love about this image is how the interior lent itself to be captured in this ultra wide-angle shot, with the converging verticals creating a very dynamic image. Anyway, I hope you like it.

Description: This is the view up into the hexagonal courtyard within the Palais Ferstel, in Vienna, Austria. Today, the palace is a luxury shopping arcade with this most elegant central courtyard, which you access through the Freyung Passage. The hexagonal courtyard, which is topped with a beautifully designed glass dome, houses the wonderful Donaunixenbrunnen (Danube Nymphs) Fountain. It's all quite something to see.
Description: This is an image of the 'Cellarium' at Fountains Abbey, in North Yorkshire, England. As I understand it, this large space was used to store the harvest yield. While much of Fountains Abbey was destroyed during the King Henry VIII-ordered dissolution of the monasteries, this extraordinary structure survived. What I love about this image is the light from the open windows and how it illuminates the truly amazing vaulted ceiling. Considering that this place was essentially a barn, it was built with such lasting care.
