Description: Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV) is a mecha anime that originally aired from 1982 to 1983 on Japanese TV. Set in the distant future, the series follows fifteen young pilots aboard the powerful battleship Rugger Guard as they defend Earth and its colonies from the invading Galveston Empire. Their greatest weapon is Dairugger XV, an enormous super robot formed by the combination of fifteen individual vehicles, each controlled by a different team member. Unlike many giant robot series of its era, Dairugger XV placed a strong emphasis on teamwork, military strategy, and the relationships among its large cast. While the series had only modest success in Japan, it found lasting fame when its robot design was adapted into other anime.

This one borrows the visual language of the space program that actually happened: the clean ribbon lettering, the faded circle badge, the color streak trailing behind the ship. It looks like something recovered from a 1977 mission patch drawer, complete with the cracks and wear that a real one would've picked up along the way. The ship sits front and center against a field of stars, gold and blue and red streaming behind her, with STARFLEET spelled out below in that unmistakable retro-future type.
