Description: Funk is a musical genre that originated in the mid-1960s when musicians created rhythmic, danceable music through a mixture of soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues. It de-emphasized melody and chord progressions and focused on a strong rhythmic groove by an electric bassist and drummer, often at slower tempos than other popular music.
