Description: The National Guard of Louisiana authorizes the award of the Cold War Victory Medal. The National Guard of Alaska authorizes the award of the Cold War Victory Ribbon. The medal is not authorized for wear on any U.S. Armed Forces active duty uniform. If a member of the National Guard has been awarded the medal it must be temporarily removed from uniform if called to active service, under Title 10 of the United States Code, with other regular components of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Description: The 10th Cavalry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army. Formed as a segregated African-American unit, the 10th Cavalry was one of the original "Buffalo Soldier" regiments in the post–Civil War Regular Army. It served in combat during the Indian Wars in the western United States, the Spanish–American War in Cuba and in the Philippine–American War. The regiment was trained as a combat unit but later relegated to non-combat duty and served in that capacity in World War II until its deactivation in 1944. The regiment have served in conflicts ranging from the Vietnam War to Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 4th Squadron is the only 10th Cavalry Regiment unit in active service.

Description: The 4th Infantry Division deployed from Fort Lewis to Camp Holloway, Pleiku, Vietnam on 25 September 1966 and served more than four years, returning to Fort Carson, Colorado on 8 December 1970. Description: . On September 1, 1984, the company relocated from fort Golick to fort Davis, republic of panama. On December 19, 1989, the unit was alerted for operation just cause and served in task force Atlantic with the 7th infantry division (light). During just cause, the company conducted MP missions in colon, coco solo and riot hate to secure the gambol dam and gating locks. Following the cessation of hostilities the unit trained the new Panamanian police and participated in operation promote liberty. For their efforts, the company received the army superior unit award.
