He was the last Triple Crown winner until American Pharoah broke the drought in 2015. What makes hi sTriple Crown bid so special was the battle he had going with his rival, Alydar. Alydar was on Affirmeds heels the whole way in all three races. He definitely gave Affirmed a run for his money.
