Description: This is an acrylic painting I did for the "Adelaide Fringe Festival: Short Sharp and Sweet Exhibition". The painting tries to capture the entertainment to be had at the Festival from food, art and music. What's Short? The piece of music is very, very short - one bar. The two notes joined together are extremely short musical notes called 256th notes (demisemihemidemisemiquavers). What's Sharp? Sharp is represented in 2 ways, firstly with a musical sharpe and the manner in which the two 256th notes come to a sharp downward point. What's Sweet? The musical notes and the treble clef are constructed of lollipop candy and the black piano keys and the musical bar ending are made of short black licorice sticks. Where's the Fringe?...
